My son battled a heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, & crystal meth addiction for twenty-three years. He is polite, charming, & handsome. He is kind and loving and generous. However, throughout his addiction he lied, stole, manipulated and used good people. He robbed banks. He had been in and out of detox facilities, recovery houses, programs, treatment centres and prisons. There was my son and there was my son with his brain altered because of the drugs he was so heavily addicted too. They were very different people but I knew who my son was. I knew his heart. I knew his goodness and his kindness. I never let myself waiver in who I knew my son to be in spite of how situations unfolded.
