The narrative follows six club members—biker, gunman, drug dealers and robbers—who kept journals and spoke openly about characters, choices and regret. Discussions of titles from classic fiction to contemporary nonfiction become a lens for identity, loss, anger and the work of rebuilding a life after release.
Alongside the men is program coordinator Carol Finlay, whose efforts to expand the initiative across Canada and into the United States show how reading can create structure, dialogue and small chances for reintegration.
